JUNE 2021

Happy Father’s Day and greetings; Ghost Riders, Avengers, Caretakers, friends, and family.   Summer is here and many of you are feeling the effects with hot days.  I hope this finds each of you well and safe.  Hopefully, everyone has gotten their vaccines.  Have you got yours yet?  You might help save someone’s life.

As we come to the middle of June, I have many things to be thankful for.  Most important that I am still alive.  The last few years have been hard on me health wise, but it is better than the alternative.  Hopefully, I will live another few years.  I am also thankful for my 189th AHC brothers, their wives and family.  Over the years you have gave me a cause and goal.  You have blessed me more than you know.  We as a family have overcome many obstacles and we will continue.

We have just celebrated Flag Day and the birthday of the US Army.  Each of us have something to celebrate and that is FREEDOM.  Let America stay strong and continue to celebrate these dates and birthdays as long as we live.

Reunions:  189th AHC:  As of this date no one has stepped forwarded and offered to plan a 189th AHC reunion.  I and many others would welcome someone to plan a reunion even if it were a small one.  I will be glad to help anyone who desires to plan one.  My physical ability is limited and sometimes my mental ability also.

Death Notices:  It seems that more and more of our brothers are passing away.  It hurts me every time I am notified that someone has passed.  I pass the information on to you as soon as possible.  Many times, it takes several days to get the Obituary information for one reason or not, but I try and will pass on to you what information I obtain.  I know that we have many no doubt that pass and we are not notified.  When possible, I research those that we have lost contact with to try and locate them but often it ends up in an obituary.

Gerry’s Travels:  Our travels have been extremely limited due to both of our health.  It seems the only place that we go is to the doctor or pickup our grocery order and I am tired of not being able to do or go places.  We were going to take the motor home down on the Mississippi Coast but staying dizzy so much I am afraid to drive that far.  We did have our son and daughter in law come from Oregon in May along with our Grandson and his family from Virginia.  We had a good visit.  I had another heart procedure also in May.  But to highlight the month of June I turned 77 years young.  I would like to thank each of you that wished me Happy Birthday.  I know that some of you are older than me and thank God that you are still around.  I value my brothers and sisters of the 189th AHC.  Let us remember one another as we continue to walk in this life.  Gerry
