Accident Summary:

 AT APPROXIMATELY 0915 HOURS, AIRCRAFT DEPARTED FSB MERIDETH IN ROUTE TO BAN ME THOUT EAST, WITH THREE PASSENGERS ON BOARD. THE MISSION OF THE AIRCRAFT WAS THAT OF A COMMAND AND CONTROL AIRCRAFT FOR THAT DAY. IT WAS PROCEEDING TO BAM ME THOUT FOR LIASON. AT APPROXIMATELY 0935 HOURS, THERE WAS A LOUD BANG HEARD TO THE REAR OF THE AIRCRAFT. AT THIS TIME THE AIRCRAFT YAWED RIGHT AND LEFT ABOUT THREE TIMES THEN ASSUMED AN EXTREME NOSE LOW ATTITUDE AND BEGAN TURNING TO THE RIGHT. THE AIRCRAFT COMMANDER ENTERED AUTOROTATION AND TRIED TO CONTROL THE NOSE LOW ATTITUDE OF THE AIRCRAFT. ME. VEAL THEN TURNED TOWARD THE ONLY AREA THERE WAS, AND THEN SAW THAT THE AIRCRAFT WOULD NOT MAKE IT TO THE AREA. HE THEN DECIDED TO PUT THE AIRCRAFT IN THE TREES. HE WAITED TILL HE WAS ABOUT 100 FEET ABOVE THE TREES THEN SKIPPED THE AIRCRAFT TO THE LEFT, AT ABOUT 50 FEET HE BEGAN TO SLOW THE AIRCRAFT AND TO PULL IN HIS REMAINING PITCH. AT THIS TIME THE AIRCRAFT BEGAN TO SPIN TO THE RIGHT. 7R. VEAL THEN SLOWED THE AIRCRAFT TO A ZERO AIRSPEED CONDITION AND ENTERED THE TREES STRIKING THE LEFT FRONT COCKPIT AREA FIRST. IN THIS WAY THE TRANSMISSION WAS SURE NOT TO DEPART THE AIRCRAFT EXCEPT OUT THE BOTTOM. THE AIRCRAFT THEN SETTLED DOWN IN THE TREES, UPON STRIKING A LARGE TREE, THE AIRCRAFT TURNED UP ON ITS RIGHT SIDE.\\
